Nebraska Urban Indian Health Coalition has a number of employment status
categories that reflect the needs of
operating an Urban Health Program. The employment categories are as
follows:

Definitions
Regular Full-time: A person who has been hired at will, to
work a minimum of 40 hours each week, performing
duties described in his/her job description.
Regular Part-time: A person who is hired at will to work for
less than 40 hours, but not less than 20 hours per week.
Temporary: A person who is hired at will to work for a
definite period of time or for a defined project period.
Volunteer: A person who will perform tasks without any
compensation.
Contractual: A person whose terms of employment are
stipulated in a written contract agreed to by both the employee
and NUIHC.
Salaried: Exempt employees are defined as “any employee
employed in a bona fide executive, administrative,
or professional capacity.”
Hourly: Nonexempt employees are those who devote most of
their hours in activities not managerial, administrative
or professional. Exempt employees are paid overtime (time and a half) for
actual hours worked over 40 hours per week.
Contractual: A person whose terms of employment are
stipulated in a written contract agreed to by both the employee
and NUIHC.
Students/Interns: A person who is in training and as part of
his/her training performs tasks with or
without compensation.
All employees of
NUIHC are expected to support and ensure the integrity of NUIHC while on the
job as well as
off the job. Persons will be hired based on qualifications and experience,
with commencement salary being
negotiable within the range.
All
employees must provide proof of licenses where required by law. Such
licenses
include: driver’s license, license to practice medicine, etc. Any
employee practicing deception may be terminated
for such cause.
